What is Stash?

Table of Contents show

Stash is a financial technology and service that operate both on the web and the company’s official mobile app. Stash allow users to invest a small amount of money over time with a fractional share, fee-free trade, and an account starting fee of just $1.

With all the benefits of a Stash account, you can own an account for just $1 and trade freely on the platform for a fractional share which is still in one way or the other higher than what most investment app and websites require.

However, as a beginner investor, Stash is recommended because of its flexibility and the start-up requirement.

Stash features or tools include Set Schedule, Round-Ups, and Smart-Stash that helps investors to find extra cash and re-invest it.

In comparison, Acorns and Stash are a similar platform offering relatively the same service. However, talking about which one is cheaper, Stash is far cheaper and with similar modules-Operandi.

Why do people cancel their Stash account?

Founded in 2015, Stash has quickly grown to become one of the most popular automatic investment tools in the country, with more than 5 million customers using its services by 2020. But despite many prominent organisations praising the service for its fantastic features, not everyone is completely happy with the investment options they’re receiving. This is why many have decided to close their Stash account and move on to another service.

By far, the most popular reason people end up moving on from Stash is the monthly fee. While the highest fee is just $9/month, with some users only investing in increments of $0.01, that monthly fee can be quite detrimental to annual returns. This is also one of the highest chosen reasons why people cancel AT&T and move to another service.

Another reason many people cancel is they simply don’t use Stash anymore. If you no longer use a service, there’s no reason to keep paying for it, so they end up cancelling and saving their money instead. Much like those who’ve gone online wanting to find out how to cancel their Xbox game pass accounts as well.

Canceling a Subscription Vs Closing a Stash Account

As you might be wondering, there is a stark difference between closing your Stash account and canceling a subscription on Stash.

The difference is that when you cancel your Stash membership, your account will not be deleted automatically. Only your subscription will end, but you will get to keep your Stash account until you decide to close it as well.

With the help of the steps above, you can easily say goodbye to your Stash subscription.

However, if you only want to close a small part of it like your brokerage account, but still have your Stash membership active, then you can only do this by reaching out to Stash’s customer service department.

You can dial (800) 205-5164 on your phone to contact them. Note that you do not have the option to do this action using the online website and the app.

In addition to this, you can also delete your account on Stash. All you need to do is send an email to the customer support team.

Make sure to write clearly that you need your Stash account deleted permanently. Even the subject of your email should be titled clearly so that the customer care representative knows the intentions of your email.

A factor to keep in mind is that it may take approximately 72 hours to 10 business days for your Stash account to be closed.

This is why we advise you to transfer or take out all the money you have stored in your Stash account before you decide to close it.

Does Stash steal your money?

No Stash does not steal any money, but if Auto-Stash feature is on, the app will automatically round the trasnsactions which might seem like excessive amounts are being deducted.
